Newsletter promo tweet template
"Subscribe to my newsletter" rarely works. Giving away one good idea from the issue does. This template sells the newsletter by being useful first.
The template
[One useful idea from this week's issue, stated as a takeaway.] [One line of why it matters.] This week's issue covers [topic] in full. [Number] [readers] get it every [frequency]. Free, link in the reply.
When to use it
- You've just sent an issue and want new readers to find it.
- You want to grow your list from X without sounding like an ad.
- You post regularly and need a promo format you can repeat weekly.
Why it works
Value first
Leading with an idea from the issue makes the tweet useful on its own. People subscribe because they liked a sample.
Why it matters
One line of context tells readers the issue goes deeper than the tweet.
What subscribers get
The topic, the audience and how often. Clear expectations convert better than "join my newsletter".
The link in a reply
Keeping the link out of the main tweet protects reach and keeps the idea front and center.

Raise your rates for new clients first, not existing ones. New clients have no anchor. They'll judge your price against value, not against what you charged last year. This week's issue covers pricing in full. 4,000 freelancers get it every Tuesday. Free, link in the reply.

Water your tomatoes deeply twice a week, not a little every day. Shallow watering keeps roots near the surface, where they dry out in a heat wave. This week's issue covers summer watering in full. 2,500 home gardeners get it every Friday. Free, link in the reply.

Log the input, not just the error. "Payment failed" tells you nothing at 3 a.m. "Payment failed for order 1182, amount 0" tells you the bug. This week's issue covers debugging in production. 6,000 developers get it every Monday. Free, link in the reply.
Tips
- Pick the most surprising idea from the issue, not the introduction.
- Post the promo the day the issue goes out, and again later in the week with a different idea.
- Put the signup link in a reply. Posts with links are widely reported to get less reach.
- Turn each issue into several tweets and threads. The repurposing guide shows how.
