Quick tip tweet template

The quick tip is the most reliable format on X: one problem, one fix, one tweet. This template keeps it specific enough to act on today.

The template

  1. Quick tip: [the tip, as an instruction]. [Why it works or what problem it solves.] [How to do it, or an example.]

When to use it

  • You have a small, specific piece of advice that works.
  • You want a dependable post for days when you have little time.
  • You want to build a reputation as the person who knows the details.

Why it works

The label

"Quick tip:" promises something short and useful. People who like that format stop for it.

An instruction

Start with what to do, as a verb. The reader should be able to act on it right away.

Why it works

One line of reasoning makes the tip memorable and believable.

How, or an example

A concrete example turns a nice idea into something people can do today.

Examples

Copywriter

Quick tip: read your headline out loud before you publish it. If you stumble, your reader will too. "Driving synergistic growth outcomes" fails. "How we doubled signups with one email" passes.

Home cook

Quick tip: salt your pasta water like you mean it. It's the only chance to season the pasta itself. Sauce only coats the outside. About a tablespoon of salt per 4 quarts. It should taste like mild seawater.

Developer
  1. Y

    Your name@you

Quick tip: write the commit message before you write the code. If you can't describe the change in one line, it's probably two changes. Start with "Add retry to payment webhook", then build exactly that.

Tips

  • One tip per tweet. A second tip dilutes the first.
  • Make it specific enough to try today. "Be consistent" isn't a tip; "post at 9 a.m. on weekdays for a month" is.
  • Turn your best tips into a listicle thread later.
  • Extudio's Compose has a "Quick tip:" opener to start a draft in this format.
