Introduction tweet template

An introduction tweet tells new followers why to stick around. This template covers who you are, what you'll post and one detail that makes you a person, not a brand.

The template

  1. Hi, I'm [name]. I [what you do] for [who]. Before that: [one line of relevant background]. Here I post about [topic 1], [topic 2] and [topic 3]. Off the clock: [one personal detail].

When to use it

  • You're starting a new account or starting to post seriously.
  • You've gained a lot of new followers who don't know your story.
  • You want a post to pin so profile visitors understand you in seconds.

Why it works

Who and what

Name, what you do and who for. Visitors decide in seconds whether you're relevant to them.

Background

One line of credibility explains why people should listen, without a résumé.

What you'll post

Two or three topics tell people what they'll get by following. They're also a useful commitment for you.

A personal detail

Something human gives people a reason to reply and remember you.

Tips

  • Pin it. Most profile visitors read the pinned post before deciding to follow.
  • Repost a fresh version every few months as your audience grows.
  • Match your bio. The introduction should expand on it, not contradict it. See how to write an X bio.
  • Add a photo of you, not a logo. People follow people.
